RF-10 (Takt 1) The Czechoslovak army manpack VHF radio review - part 2 - accessory Box A (EN)

Box A is one of the many accessories of the RF-10 radio. Box A should mainly perform the following functions: it takes care of powering the radio with a voltage of 6V (it serves as a voltage stabilizer of 6V), it can also serve as an emergency charger for one battery pack with a current of 1 / 10C, NF amplifier for loud interception sessions, if box B is available, the set performs the function of an intercom and in connection with the field telephone TP25 and the device TP25rd it will perform the function of a cordless telephone bridge.

The box is powered by "on-board" voltage from the car battery of the vehicle 12V = or from a bulk car battery, or for continuous operation at home satisfies the mains stabilized power supply 13.8V / 3..5A used and sold for CB radios. The supply voltage is connected to the rear screw terminals marked + - 12V (it is the 1st and 2nd screw terminals counted from the left, looking at the back of the cabinet). The cabinet can withstand an operating voltage in the range of 10 ... 15V =, but above 14V = I would not bother it (due to relatively sensitive light bulbs). The consumption from the battery or mains supply is from 0.6 to 2.4A, depending on which functions are currently switched on on the cabinet. The cabinet is switched on with the toggle switch to position "I" (it is the toggle switch second from the left when looking at the front panel of the cabinet) and switching on is signaled by a lit green light above the switch (second from the left when looking at the front panel).
The box contains a built-in voltage stabilizer, which reduces the input supply voltage to 6V =, which allows the box "A" to directly supply the RF-10 radio without a battery. The 6V output used to power the radio station is marked - + and a "square with antenna" (it is the 6th and 7th screw terminals counted from the left, looking at the back of the cabinet). A plug-in connector is connected to these terminals, which connects the power supply from box "A" to the back of the radio station instead of the battery pack. BEWARE OF POLARITY, AVOID SHORT CIRCUIT !!

Box "A" also contains a current source 0.3 ... 0.45A which can be used as a hand-held charger for charging one battery block of the RF-10 station. It is possible to charge the battery box both during operation of the radio station (if it is powered from the box "A"), or completely without it, only using the bare box "A" without other accessories. A plug-in bracket (accessory part) is used to connect the battery pack, on which the battery pack is hung in the same system as on the radio, or in an emergency only a plastic plug-in connector is used and the wires from it are connected to box "A" on screw terminals + - marked with battery (it's the 9th and 10th screw terminals counted from the left, looking at the back of the box). Charging is switched on with the toggle switch to position "I" (toggle switch first from the left when looking at the front panel of the cabinet) and charging is signaled by a lit green light above the switch marked with the battery symbol (first from left when looking at the front panel). The battery charging time corresponds to the parameters specified in the battery maintenance and recharging manual.
Box "A" contains low-frequency power amplifier and an intercom amplifier. The volume of the amplifier is controlled by rotary switches with earphone and speaker symbols. To use these circuits, you need to unscrew the handset cable from the radio and screw it into the connector on the back of the cabinet "A", which is marked with the handset symbol (it is the connector on the far right, looking at the back of the cabinet). Instead of the handset, a connector of a special connecting cable (part of the accessories for box "A") comes to the connector of the RF-10 radio station and the other end of this multi-core cable into the connector on box "A" marked with a "square with antenna" (it is the 1st connector - counted from the left, looking at the back of the cabinet). Next, a speaker with an impedance of 8 ohms is connected to the box "A" (it is the 3rd and 4th screw terminals counted from the left, looking at the back of the box). With this connection, it is possible to listen loudly to the received session from the radio station to the loudspeaker (rotary function switch switched to position "A" with a vertical double arrow).
If there is another accessory box marked "B" to which a second loudspeaker and a second handset can be connected, the device can also be used as an intercom inside the vehicle (rotary function switch switched to position "AB"). Or control the radio remotely from box "B" (rotary function switch switched to position "B" with a vertical double arrow). The mutual settings of the switches for the various selection functions are detailed in the manual. ATTENTION, AVOID THE SHORT CIRCUIT TO THE SPEAKER BETWEEN YOU AND BETWEEN THE SKIN OF THE INSTRUMENT OR THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE !! The button marked with the horn symbol has the same function as the signal tone button on the handset. Its pressing is indicated by the lighting of the fourth green light.

Box "A" contains a device that allows you to connect a radio station to a field telephone line and transmit a call from a field telephone.
